Spaghetti Aglio e Olio: A Simple 10-Minute Meal

Ingredients:
- 200g spaghetti
- 4 cloves of garlic, thinly sliced
- 1/2 cup of extra virgin olive oil
- 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
- Salt to taste
- Freshly ground black pepper to taste
- Freshly chopped parsley for garnish
- Grated Parmesan cheese (optional)

Instructions:

1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the spaghetti and cook until al dente (usually around 8-10 minutes). Drain the pasta, reserving some pasta water for later.

2. While the pasta is cooking, heat the olive oil in a large pan over medium heat. Add the thinly sliced garlic and cook until it starts to turn golden brown. Be careful not to burn the garlic as it can become bitter.

3. Add the red pepper flakes (if using) to the garlic and oil, stirring for a few seconds to infuse the oil with heat.

4. Once the pasta is drained, add it to the pan with garlic and oil. Toss well to coat the spaghetti in the garlic oil. If the pasta seems too dry, add a little of the reserved pasta water.

5. Season with salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste. Toss again to evenly distribute the seasoning.

6. Serve hot, garnished with freshly chopped parsley and grated Parmesan cheese if desired.

This classic Italian dish is not only easy to make but also incredibly versatile, allowing you to add your own personal touch. Whether you choose to stick with the traditional recipe or add your own twist, Spaghetti Aglio e Olio is sure to become a favorite in your kitchen.
